On a dismal spring day, I was in Brighton wandering round with a camera and a few hours to explore.
At the end of those hours I could not wait to leave.
The friendliest character I met was a Rottweiler and her owner. I was jostled repeatedly even when there was 20 feet of empty seafront to walk past. The dirt was ground in everywhere, I didn't eat while I was there because, well because. I'd hoped for fish and chips, but we ended up going to a neighbouring town for a Thai.
I have lived in seaside towns and cities and I've not seen one as filthy and run down as Brighton. And everywhere posters promising sunny days and fun activities. Maybe Brighton has a wash and brush up for the school hols, but somehow I doubt it based on the wear on the railings and the rusted paintwork that must have been years corroding.
That said I took a lot of images, not all awful. Here are a few that hopefully make a coherent picture of a town I won't be in a hurry to return to.
