Most of this gallery is taken after Dad died in February 2024. The oldest picture is the Baubigny one, taken on a walk with him in January 2023 when I was bullying him into walking farther.

Of the rest only La Vallette and the Castle Esplanade date from November, the last trip when he was at home, the Castle shot being inspired by looking at the pictures in the airport.

So most of these are taken in his memory and dedicated to him, as part of my process in the days after he passed, before the funeral. Enjoying seeing the island not as a visitor, but as a former donkey, documenting places that I knew, but hadn't SEEN for so long.

In case no-one notices, to me a lot of Guernsey is about the shoreline, and the islands, Guernsey is not a single island Bailiwick, rather it is the fusion of all, and the view that makes me feel at home is over Herm and Sark as you come down to the coast. With the exception of Sausmarez Park, the places I played and enjoyed childhood most were all near or in the sea. Swimming, fishing, building sand castles, playing golf, cycling, running round with friends, all on or near the coast.
