Wood Pigeon

DescriptionAnother bad day for birds.  As I was talking to Dad on the phone a wood pigeon flew full tilt into the skylight window, breaking it's neck and falling onto the patio.  I cannot quite work out what happened as the skylight is quite low in the roof, and even if the sky was reflected in it, normally birds are much higher to avoid the roof line.  I spent the next little while cleaning brains off the glass, which was unpleasant, then took the body over to the fields for the carrion birds and foxes.  I then took the long lens down the canal to get the best wood pigeon shot I could.  However... the light was much worse than yesterday and few birds were out.  I got latched onto by a twitcher who wanted to talk and followed me around for a while, but I eventually managed to ditch him.  Heading back up the the quarry marina, after spotting and shooting a kingfisher in the trees, albeit at long range, I finally found some pigeons around the marina, of which this is about the best, though by this time the light was gone, and I was getting cold.  Anyway, a living pigeon, in memory of the deceased one.
