Fungi

Fungi

NB: all mushroom identifications are to the best of my knowledge, and are not authoritative. No responsibility will be taken for any misidentification.

While I have used several resources to identify fungi to the best of my ability, identification is necessarily limited because I have done my very best to not disturb or damage samples in situ. I consider it more valuable to leave a pretty fungus for others to find and appreciate than to have an accurate identification for the purposes of photography and enjoying the beauty of nature. Some of the fungi are obvious such as the giant puffball, others are more difficult like the bonnet mushrooms. I have also included slime moulds here as they are often cohabitating with fungi and mistaken for them.

If you think I have misidentified a fungus from the image, feel free to contact me to suggest a correction.

I do not gather wild mushrooms to eat, nor do I recommend anyone who is not completely sure of an identification handle or consume wild fungi. I have seen someone poison themselves after handling fly agaric despite repeated warnings. These images are presented as art, and are not intended as a guide or aid to identification
