DescriptionCompare and contrast with the pictures from the Venus conjunction last year.  No bright planet to distract from the stars and flood the scene, and the light pollution significantly cut by a filter added to the scope.  This is also a 100 image stack not a single shot, so noise reduction can be done more effectively and more stars brought out.  Looking over other images it looks like the cut filter primarily is removing a lot of the pollution drowning out the scene, but it is not changing the exposure significantly or allowing many fainter stars to be shown.  It is better and easier to process by far but not earth shattering yet.  I could almost see the milky way by eye but couldn't find any nebulae in the viewfinder.  Maybe when Orion is higher in the sky I'll be able to test on that, because the Orion Nebula is easier to find.
